Iran Trip 2009 from Adam Teale on Vimeo.

In February 2009 I was fortunate to spend 3 weeks traveling in Iran (a.k.a Persia).

In those 3 weeks I got to explore Rasht, Tehran, Shiraz, Persepolis, Maybod, Yazd and along the way I met by some of the most friendly & welcoming people I have ever met.

Iran thank you very much for this incredible adventure!

  Travel tips - hmmm, i wish i'd spent more time up in the north west. I highly recommend the Trans Asia express train from Istanbul to Tehran - 3 days and is incredible.

  Make sure you take cash into Iran, a mate of mine didn't but luckily a random Iranian dude on the train leant him €400!

  @John - thank you! I definitely understand very little about Iran! But I was lucky enough to keep my mind pretty open whilst I was over there and I think that helps being in a place that is so heavily judged from the outside. Pretty much every person I met over there was incredibly helpful and friendly and curious about my opinions on Iran. Would love to hear about your experiences when you get over there. Have a great trip!

Barely 2 days after arriving in Sydney I found myself standing in awe of the cool sounds of Les Claypool live at the Enmore theatre. Big thanks to Liam for hooking me up with a ticket!

Having wanted to see Primus for so long this was definitely the next best thing. He’s the man and I’d definitely agree in calling him the bext bass player in the world!
As well as all the tracks he played off “Of Fungi And Foe” tracks Les also dropped a couple of great Primus bombs and the crowd loved it.

Sometime back I was commissioned to write soundtrack music for two projects that promised to have quite a bit of very intense and unique imagery. One was for an interactive game about a meteor that hits Earth and brings intelligence to the mushrooms within the crash proximity and the other was about a three thousand pound wild boar that terrorizes the marijuana fields of Northern California. Obviously the makers of the subsequent Mushroom Men game and Pig Hunt film were very aware of my tastes and perspectives because the music oozed from me in such a natural way that I believe it came as much from my pores as it did my mind. This music became the foundation of the songs that fill this collection. With a few added tidbits and a bit of gypsy sauce, I inflict upon you… OF FUNGI AND FOE[3]

When I can get to some great bandwidth I’ll upload the HD version.

On July 12th 2009 Nicholas Ward and Adam Teale left Bangkok Thailand and rode their bicycles south through Thailand and Malaysia, and after 2100km and nearly a month of riding, made it to Singapore

I haven’t ironed out all the bugs yet, and the translation from SubIt to FCP (the position/size of the text is not accurate).

About 2 months ago Alex proposed a great idea. A trip to Thailand. Then Hugh suggested we go to Vietnam. Using all our genius we were able to work out a way to spend a week in Krabi province in Thailand, and then a week getting as much out of Vietnam as possible.

So 2 weeks ago here the five of us were all sitting in a cafe in Phra Atit (near Khaosan Road) in Bangkok, feeling pretty pumped for a grand old time. Awesome when things work out!

Railay & Koh Phi Phi were the places we spent out time in Krabi. In Vietnam we visited Hanoi, Halong Bay, Sapa, Hua An and Ho Chi Minh city.

Vietnam is a great place. Most of the folks we met were kind and seemed slightly interested in talking to some foreigners. Also Vietnam is fantastically affordable. A beer could cost as little as 2000 dong! ($0.10 – $0.15 USD). You can get into a nice hotel for about $5USD. No need to slum it in Vietnam!

I liked Hanoi. Thousands of scooters zipping by down some little streets, heavy chinese influence, tasty food, an old prison with lots of history, a lake with a Turtle god in it. What else could you want?

I’d definitely recommend a trip up to Sapa and spend a few nights there. We could only fit in one night but it made for 2 days walking around the hills and being shuffled through the Mhong villages in the area.

Hua An is UNESCO heritage listed, and in my experience that means it is definitely worth a visit. Vintage town on a river – that flooded in the last few days we were there. Hua An also has a big name for the amount of tailors there. Need a suit? Need a coat? Need some shoes?

Liam and I ended up being the last of us in Vietnam. We spent a night in Ho Chi Minh city – also a great city with that same vibe as Hanoi but a lot bigger and … developed? We were both pretty knackered after the big 2 weeks so didn’t make much of an effort to explore. Next time for sure.

Now it’s time to get back to that thing some people call “reality” and look for a job. Blerg.

I have a ton of pictures, heaps in 1:1 aspect, so flickr is going to cop it today.

Spent most of today learning more about NSTableView, memory management and other things Cocoa/Obj-C/xCode.

What came of it?

I made a little app for keeping track of shares – via finance.yahoo.com.

Includes an open/save dialog so you can have a ‘portfolio’ to open again at a later time.

ATM I think it only runs in OS X 10.6.
